Farm to School Education
for Students and Families

Farmer in the Classroom

Picture
The Agrarian Adventure, a local non-profit and AAPS Farm to School Collaborative member, offers the Farmer in the Classroom program to AAPS teachers each year. This program connects K-5 teachers with local farmers and food stewards to bring fun, curriculum-based, delicious lessons into the classrom.

These hour-long visits:
  • Teach students about local food
  • Introduce students to food, nutrition, and farming career possibilities
  • Cover a broad range of topics, from nutrition to economics to environmental stewardship
  • Cover topics directly tied to classroom curriculum and state standards

In the 2018-19 school year, Agrarian Adventure provided Farmer in the Classroom visits to almost 700 students in 10 AAPS schools!
